What is NeighboursLoop?
NeighboursLoop is a community platform that helps neighbours share everyday items — tools, camping gear, garden equipment, household bits — instead of everyone buying their own. You lend what you rarely use, borrow what you need for a moment, and get to know the people nearby.
How much does it cost?
NeighboursLoop is free to join and use — listing, borrowing, lending, chatting, and connecting with friends are all free. We also offer an optional paid plan, NeighboursLoop Plus, which unlocks extra features like suburb-wide discovery.
How do I borrow something?
Find an item nearby using search or the map, open the listing, and send the owner a request to borrow through chat. Once you agree on a time, meet up to collect it. Always inspect the item and confirm its condition before you take it.
How do I lend or list an item?
Tap “Add item”, take a photo, add a short description and category, and publish. You stay in control — you approve each borrow request and arrange hand-over directly with the borrower. Only list things you have the right to lend and that are safe to use.
How do you keep me safe?
NeighboursLoop is built around real neighbourhoods, friend connections, ratings, and reporting tools. That said, meetings happen between members, so use common sense: get to know the other party, meet in a familiar place where possible, and inspect every item before handing it over or accepting it. See our Terms of Use for the full picture.
What if an item is damaged, not returned, or stolen?
Because arrangements are made directly between members, NeighboursLoop isn’t a party to them and can’t recover items or compensate for loss. If something goes wrong, it’s your responsibility to take action — contact the other member, and where appropriate report the matter to the police or pursue a claim. In cases of fraud, theft, or illegal activity we may share information we hold with the Australian police on a lawful request (see our Privacy Policy).
Who can see my location and address?
Your exact street address is never shown publicly on the map — we use your suburb and an approximate location for discovery. You can update your address any time in profile settings.
How do friends and connections work?
You can connect with people you trust as friends. Friends can see more of your activity and listings, and messaging is designed to be used respectfully. You choose who you connect with.
What is NeighboursLoop Plus?
Plus is our optional subscription. It unlocks features such as suburb-wide discovery (seeing items beyond your immediate circle), the ability to discover non-friends nearby, and a Plus badge. It’s billed monthly through the App Store, Google Play, or our web payment provider.
How do I cancel Plus?
You can cancel any time. If you subscribed through Apple, manage or cancel in your App Store account subscriptions; through Google, in the Play Store; through the web, from your account settings. Your Plus features stay active until the end of the current billing period.
I subscribed in the app but the website doesn’t show Plus — what do I do?
Your subscription is tied to your account, so it should appear everywhere you’re logged in. If the website still shows the free plan, first make sure you’re logged into the same account, then fully close and reopen the app so it can re-check your subscription. If it still doesn’t update after a few minutes, contact us and we’ll sort it out.
How do ratings and reviews work?
After an item is borrowed and returned, both the lender and borrower can leave a star rating and a short review. Ratings help the community build trust over time. You can see a member’s overall rating and the reviews behind it on their profile.
How do I report a user or item?
Every profile and listing has a report option. If you see something unsafe, misleading, or against our rules, please report it — our team reviews reports and can issue warnings, suspend, or remove accounts and listings.
How do I delete my account?
You can request deletion from your account settings, or by contacting us at hello@neighboursloop.com. We’ll delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we’re required to keep records by law.
