Child Safety Standards

NeighboursLoop is an adults-only service

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use NeighboursLoop, as set out in our Terms of Use. The service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete the associated data.

What is prohibited

The following are strictly forbidden and will result in immediate removal and a permanent ban:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form, including images, video, text, or links.
• Sexualising, or seeking to sexualise, a minor — including in profiles, listings, photos, or messages.
• Grooming, or any attempt to establish contact with a minor for a sexual purpose.
• Sextortion, or threatening to share intimate imagery of a minor.
• Child trafficking, or facilitating the exploitation of a minor in any way.
• Using NeighboursLoop to arrange in-person contact with a minor for any of the above.

How to report

Every member can report CSAE content or behaviour directly in the app. Reporting is available from:

• A member’s profile — report the account.
• Any item listing — report the listing.
• A chat conversation — report the person you are messaging.

You can also block any member at any time, which immediately stops them contacting you or seeing your listings.

If you cannot access the app, or the matter is urgent, email us at hello@neighboursloop.com with the subject line “Child Safety Report”.

How we respond

Reports of CSAE are treated as the highest priority and are escalated ahead of all other moderation. When we receive one, we:

• Review the report as a matter of urgency.
• Remove the offending content and suspend the account pending review.
• Permanently ban confirmed offenders and block re-registration.
• Preserve the relevant account data and content as evidence, rather than deleting it, so it can be provided to law enforcement.
• Report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

Reporting to authorities

NeighboursLoop operates in Australia and complies with applicable Australian law, including the Online Safety Act 2021. We report suspected child sexual abuse and exploitation to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) and cooperate with the eSafety Commissioner and Australian law enforcement. Where a matter involves another jurisdiction, we report it to the relevant authority there, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. In Australia, call 000.

How we reduce risk

• NeighboursLoop is restricted to adults aged 18 and over.
• Item listings are screened automatically before they become visible to other members, and listings that fail that screening are held for manual review.
• Members can only be contacted through the app, and can block or report anyone at any time.
• Reported accounts and content are reviewed by our team, who can remove content, suspend accounts, and ban members.
• These standards are reviewed regularly and updated as our platform and obligations change.
