NeighboursLoop Is Officially Live

Today is a pretty exciting day for us.

After months of planning, designing, building, testing, fixing, rebuilding, testing again, and probably drinking more coffee than we should admit, NeighboursLoop is officially live.

And it is now available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

But launching an app is only one part of the story.

The real story starts now, with you, your neighbours, and the things sitting in garages, cupboards, sheds and spare rooms all around Australia.

Why did we build NeighboursLoop?

Think about how many things you own that you only use occasionally. A drill you used once to put up a shelf. A ladder that spends most of its life in the garage. A camping tent that comes out two or three times a year.

A pressure washer. A picnic set. A party table. Gardening equipment. Sports gear. Kids’ items.

We buy these things because we need them for a moment. And then they sit there. Meanwhile, someone a few streets away might be looking to buy exactly the same thing for a single weekend.

That simple observation is where NeighboursLoop started.

Our idea is straightforward:

Your neighbourhood already owns more than enough.
Instead of everyone buying, storing and eventually throwing away the same things, why not make it easier for neighbours to share what they already have?

NeighboursLoop is designed to make that possible; locally, simply and with the people who actually live around you.
You can list something you are happy to share, discover useful things nearby, connect with neighbours, arrange a borrow, and build trust through real local interactions.

It isn’t another social network where you scroll endlessly through posts.
It’s about real things, real people and real neighbourhoods.

This is just the beginning

Getting NeighboursLoop from an idea to a real product has been a huge journey.

There has been a lot happening behind the scenes — designing the experience, building the platform, creating the mobile apps, working through countless bugs, improving the user experience, thinking about privacy and safety, testing different ideas, and making hundreds of small decisions that nobody ever sees.
And honestly?
We’re nowhere near finished.

We already have a long list of ideas and improvements we want to bring to NeighboursLoop.
More ways to discover useful things nearby.
Better ways to connect with your neighbourhood.
Smarter listing tools.
Improvements to borrowing and sharing.
More community features.
And plenty of ideas that we haven’t even built yet.

But there’s something important we’ve learned along the way: The best version of NeighboursLoop isn’t something we can build by ourselves. It has to be built together with the people who use it.
A community platform needs a community. This is probably the most important thing we want to say about today’s launch.

NeighboursLoop can have the best interface, the best features and the best technology in the world.
But if you open the app and there are no neighbours, no items and no local activity, it won’t feel very useful.
That’s the nature of a community platform.

You are the community. If you are the first person in your suburb to join, you might not see dozens of items immediately. That’s okay.
In fact, you could be the person who starts the loop. List two things you have sitting around at home.
Invite a neighbour.
Share the app in your local WhatsApp group. Tell your friends who live nearby. Ask your neighbours to join.

Every item added makes the platform more useful for the next person. Every new neighbour makes it easier to find something you need. And every successful borrow makes the next interaction a little more natural.
That’s how a neighbourhood community grows — one person at a time.

Starting in Australia — with two pilot suburbs
NeighboursLoop is currently built specifically for Australian communities.
As our first pilot, we’re starting with two suburbs in NSW: Kellyville — The Hills Shire and Gledswood Hills
These are our starting points, not our boundaries.

There is no restriction preventing you from using NeighboursLoop anywhere in Australia.
If you live in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, the Gold Coast, or anywhere else in Australia, you can join.
You may simply find that there aren’t many people in your suburb yet.

And that’s where you come in.
Maybe your suburb is going to be the next one to come alive. Maybe you’ll be the first person to list an item there. Maybe the person who joins next will be your neighbour.

One of the biggest differences is suburb-wide search. Free users can search within their friends, while Plus members can search across their suburb — making it much easier to discover something useful that’s available nearby, even if you don’t already know the person who listed it.

Instead of manually entering all the details of an item, you can use the one-button listing option and let AI analyse your photo, identify what you’re listing, and automatically create the listing for you.
